NODE 01 · Maintenance and hosting

Your WordPress keeps running, and that is our job

We built in WordPress for years, so we know exactly where it goes wrong: an update that breaks something, a plugin that has been abandoned, a vulnerability that gets exploited worldwide. That is why we built our own CMS — and that is why we can maintain yours as if it were our own.

Request a takeover the takeover itself costs you nothing
  • Your hosting provider helps with the server, but not with your website itself.
  • A DNS record needs changing and nobody knows which one.
  • Your email ends up in your clients' spam — or you receive loads of it yourself.
  • Messages from your contact form don't arrive, and you hear about it from the client.
  • You don't know who maintains your WordPress, or you thought it happened by itself.
  • The last update was months ago, or you don't dare to run one.
  • When something breaks, you call three parties and everyone points at someone else.
  • You pay for hosting, but don't know exactly what it includes.

RECOGNISE TWO OR MORE? THE TAKEOVER COSTS YOU NOTHING, SO FINDING OUT DOESN'T EITHER.

NODE 02 · What we do

We take the gamble off your hands

A WordPress site is not unsafe because WordPress is bad, but because nobody keeps it up to date. That is exactly the part we take over from you.

Updates

Daily, with a test afterwards

Core, theme and plugins are updated every day. Then automated tests run over the site; if they flag something, the update is rolled back automatically.

Monitoring

We see it first

We monitor your site's availability. If it goes down, we know before your client calls you.

Backups

Daily, in a different data centre

A backup every day, kept in a different Dutch data centre from the one your site runs in. And at least once a month we actually restore one, to see whether that works.

Security

Plugins that are no longer maintained

We flag it when a plugin has been abandoned and propose an alternative, instead of waiting until it goes wrong.

WooCommerce

Your web shop too

WooCommerce is itself a plugin, so it is included in the same daily round as the rest.

Response

Within four hours

In case of an outage we respond within four hours during office hours, Mon–Fri 9.00–17.00. Outside office hours is possible too, with an SLA. No arguing between theme, plugin and host: you call us.

That last part is the difference between keeping up and managing. Running updates costs nothing; knowing whether the site still works afterwards is the work. With us that is not a manual spot check but a test run that runs by itself, with a way back ready. What those tests don't see, they don't see — which is why we also look ourselves at major version jumps.

NODE 03 · Where it runs

In the Netherlands, on servers we manage ourselves

Your site lives in DigitalOcean's Amsterdam data centre, on environments we set up and manage ourselves. The backups are of course in the Netherlands too, but in a different data centre. So your data stays in the Netherlands — not just the live site, the copies as well.

We deliberately don't call that “our own servers”: the hardware isn't ours, the setup and management are.

NODE 04 · Domains and DNS

A separate service, not part of the hosting

We register domain names for our clients, and DNS management comes with it. That is separate from where your site runs: you can have one with us and not the other. Boring work until it goes wrong, and then everything is down — site, email and all.

  1. 01

    Registration and renewal

Your domains in one place, with renewals monitored. A domain that expires because an invoice got stuck in a spam filter is a disaster that is completely avoidable.

  2. 02

    DNS changes

A new email environment, an extra service, a move: we switch it over and check that it works, within the same four hours.

  3. 03

    Mail records

We set up the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records properly, and adjust SPF and DKIM when you add an email service — that is simply DNS management. We do not manage DMARC: reading the reports and tightening the policy step by step is done with specialised tooling built for that purpose. We advise you on which one.

  4. 04

    The domain stays yours

If you want to leave, you get the transfer code. No conversation, no delay. A domain is not collateral.

NODE 05 · Limits

What is not included

  1. 01

    New functionality

Maintenance means keeping up what is there. If you want something added, that is work and we estimate it up front.

  2. 02

The quality of the plugins themselves

We keep them up to date, but we didn't make them. If a plugin has a bug, we depend on its maker just as much as you do — we can disable, replace or work around it, not repair it. That is why we built our own CMS, and the most honest sentence on this page.

  3. 03

    Plugins you install yourself

Allowed, but then the responsibility for what that plugin does shifts. We will tell you if we see something that worries us.

  4. 04

A site that can no longer be saved

Sometimes keeping it up costs more than rebuilding. Then we say so, even if it costs us a monthly fee.

NODE 06 · Price

What it costs

€ 25 per month per website excl. VAT, including hosting.

For that we keep it up to date, monitor its availability, make a daily backup and test every month whether it can be restored.

Domain registration is a separate service, with DNS management included. The price differs per extension — a .nl costs something different from a .com — so we quote it with the request. Response time in case of an outage: within four hours during office hours, Mon–Fri 9.00–17.00. Need more than that — evenings, weekends, a hard recovery time — then we agree an SLA.

Taking over from another party

The takeover itself costs you nothing.

We take the site over as it is, list what is wrong with it and tell you honestly what we think of it. You get what we find in writing, even if you then decide not to work with us.

About a week on average, assuming we take it over as it is. Improvements and optimisation are work in their own right — we only start on those once you know what they cost and why they are needed.

NODE 07 · Contact

Half an hour costs you nothing

Tell us which process takes the most manual work. We will tell you honestly whether AI is the right answer — and sometimes the answer is: fix your integration first. Then you have that too, without an invoice.
